Nestled next to the peaceful Maine woods, Fox Cottage is a most welcoming place to escape the world. This sweet woodland gem, which in the winter is the peaceful home of a local writer and artist, provides visitors every opportunity to relax and unwind. Far enough away from the crowds of town, yet just ten minutes to all that Boothbay Harbor has to offer, Fox Cottage likes to think of itself as a comfy, quiet English cottage in Maine.
Wood-paneled rooms, Persian rugs, and original art throughout this home provide guests with an inviting cottage experience. This single story house features two nice-sized bedrooms with large picture windows and provides sleeping for four adults plus a child. The cozy window seat in the north bedroom not only offers a quiet corner for reading or napping, but also doubles as a bed for a child or small adult. Two full baths and full laundry make your visit very comfortable. In the south wing, next to the master bedroom, is the study with its modest library featuring books about history, gardening, sailing, and art.
Bird song will gently wake you in the morning - coffee’s on in the Fox Cottage kitchen as morning sunshine pours through its picture window. Fox Cottage has the quintessential little cottage kitchen, intimate yet very well equipped with everything guests need for easily preparing and enjoying meals. The comfy living room and dining room share a french door leading to the back patio. This private patio with its large propane grill, inviting seating, and woodland views is a perfect place to lounge and enjoy conversation and a meal - a favored spot on quiet Maine evenings for watching the sunset through the tall pine trees.
Tucked behind the cottage is a sunny organic veggie garden where vegetables are available for guests’ dinners. For nights under the stars, gather around the fire pit in a spacious seating area within the vegetable garden. Puttering in the veggie gardens is always encouraged. Fox Cottage, with all the warmth and serenity it offers, is an ideal spot for discovering yourself in Maine.
When you are ready to leave this tranquil setting, downtown Boothbay Harbor with its boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants is only 5 miles away, and it's a short 10 minute drive to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. Just a mile up the road you will find the Boothbay Railway Village.

Fox Cottage Reviews

The house is charming and very comfortable. A quick 3 minute ride to Rt. 27 takes you south to Boothbay Harbor or north to Rt. 1 and several beautiful coastal towns. Working with Sea Maine was very easy and meeting Julia, the owner of the house, was really special. Should we decide to make the long ride from Maryland again, Fox Cottage will certainly be our first stop.

My family and I (dog included) had a great time staying at the Fox Cottage in Boothbay. Comfortable house that was close to activities and amenities.

What a great Maine Cottage!
The cottage was exactly as advertised. Extremely clean and very comfortable. Good air conditioning and excellent wifi. The kitchen is small however it is very functional. The location and backyard is very private although there is no fence so you do need to keep an eye on your dog. The owner [caretaker] lives in a second cottage behind the house and was very pleasant but unobtrusive during our stay. We would rent this cottage again if returning to Boothbay.

Great space! Loved all the windows and wood panel walls. The outdoors seating area with fire and garden was wonderful.

What a great house! We were thrilled to rent such a clean, well stocked and adorable home for our vacation in Boothbay! Everything was perfect. We have rented homes for vacation for 25 years and this was the first to supply the home with plenty of garbage bags, soap to wash dishes, plenty of toilet paper, soap for the bathrooms and plenty of towels. We never understood why homeowners didn't supply those necessities for the money a vactioner pays for a week. The décor of this home is just adorable, beds were so comfy and the setting is nice and quiet with just a 10 minute drive to Boothbay Harbor. We all felt very relaxed coming home. Wendy and Kim were wonderful to deal with!
